[You Can, Toucan!] Happy creative new year!

Finally Write Your Novel

Hi Reader!

Growing up, my dad used to play Winston Bishop style April Fools pranks, and he often enlisted us kids (three of us) to help him pull off his schemes, which were always aimed at our mom. That was back in the 80s and 90s before the internet was a real thing.

Now April Fools is a series of weird email subject lines, news headlines, and fake stuff, which irritates the hell out of me (am I a curmudgeon because of that?). Therefore, I will not be playing any jokes on you.

You are a valued member of my Toucan Family (Toufam)! Why would I do that to you?

So, what’s with the Happy New Year subject line, you ask?

For the past two years, January 1st hasn't had the renewing energy it used to. Probably because in Colorado, winter extends well into Spring and I don't feel renewed and ready to tackle big things until after the time change.

Last year, I decided to start my new year on April 1st, and I am calling it my Creative New Year.

The Spring is my favorite time of year, and it is one that typically signifies renewal and growth, which is a perfect theme for starting a new year!

If you’re with me, happy creative new year!

For the next three months, I may not be in your inbox as much, but as I create things behind the scenes, you’ll be the first to know!

Before I go off to be wildly creative, I want you to know how much I truly appreciate the space you give me in your inbox. It means the world to me.

Here’s to creating great things this year!

ALWAYS REMEMBER: Someone in the world right now needs the story you want to tell, so go write it!

Happy Creative New Year!

Claire

P.S. I'm extending the timeframe to get the Novel-Worthy Idea Workbook for free. Grab it before April 5th.

For the first quarter of Creative New Year 2024, here what’s going on in Toucan Land!

These plans are subject to change, of course, but putting my plots, plans, and schemes out into the Universe helps me focus!

LAST CHANCE!

I’m extending the Novel-Worthy Idea Workbook for free for one more week, just in case you missed the previous emails about it. On April 5th, it’ll be a proper mini-course with audio lessons and a fillable Google Doc version of the workbook, and it’ll cost an as-of-yet-undetermined amount of moolah. More than $10, less than $100. 😜 Grab it here.

P.S. if you get it now you also get the mini-course version!

Get it done together!

I'm in the midst of planning a low-cost challenge in which we go through the Novel-Worthy Idea Workbook together over 3-5 days or so, with live sessions and Q&A!

Behind the scenes of my very own Story Rescue Strategy!

I’m rescuing my own novel, Unwanted Inheritance, from the murky middle. I’ll share it all on the blog when I’m done!

Finally Write Your Novel Hi Reader! Two years ago I started this mission to coach busy authors to create a consistent and sustainable writing habit. I conducted a writing habits survey. I published a book. I released what became a free mini-course. The cherry on top of this habit creating ice cream sundae? I launched the Busy Author Toolbox. Scroll down for a TL;DR... Why I created the Busy Author Toolbox So often in my time as a writer, I’ve heard other writers talk about how they don’t have...

Finally Write Your Novel Hi Reader! Okay okay before you get all up in arms about that subject line, let me set the record straight! Writers block is absolutely real. The first time I heard someone say it isn't, I thought to myself, “Bull—“ (you know what!) They pointed me to a podcast, as if someone having a podcast made them the say all be all of everything writing. It was a load of the formerly expressed Bull. Writer’s block is real. Now it may not always be tied to a mystical muse going...

A NEWSLETTER FOR BUSY AUTHORS BY A BUSY AUTHOR! Hi Reader! I forgot to mention three things last week: My dear friend and author LS Hawker was the one who helped me save my website after I destroyed it. In addition to writing bestselling thrillers, she's also a website designer and has packages for designing author websites. Everything I know about website design with Divi and Wordpress, I learned from her. Happy Spring if you’re in the northern hemisphere! and.. I hit a milestone of 1,000...
